Growing Life (6) Testimony - Terry Kang
Howdy, I’m Terry and I’m here to share my growing life testimony.
After taking Living Life, I felt that I was in a good place in terms of where I was with my faith. I felt absolved of my lingering questions that I’ve held before. I felt well equipped for the journey ahead of me, so I decided to take growing life to continue my growth.
I was presented the course as a way to establish a relationship with God. That got me thinking, what kind of relationship did I have with God? I couldn’t confidently answer that question and that troubled me. So I went ahead and took Growing to define that relationship with God.
One of my big takeaways from Growing Life was to establish quiet time (QT). QT is where, I set aside time to pray, read, meditate, and pray in that order. Initially, I thought that it’s one of those practices you do for the sake of doing it. For the first week, I did what I was told to do and pray, read, meditate, and pray again and again. I would be lying if I said it wasn’t stale and awkward at first. But as the weeks pass by, the lens in which I viewed the scripture changed from God, the all-powerful, to God, the caring father. It felt like the difference between getting an order from your boss to getting told to study from your father. One comes from a place of pure authority and the other comes from a place of love.
After this realization, QT became more than just a time to develop a personal relationship with God. It was a time of self-reflection and improvement in an uncertain period of my life. My QTs became more fruitful, which in turn, led other aspects of my life into fruition.
Thank you for listening.
