417. Youth Ministry Information Session
Next Sunday there will be the youth ministry information session. Like the name suggests, it’s a session to learn more about youth ministry. We strategically place it before the new youth shepherd applications take place so members can make an informed decision about serving.
However, apart from giving information, the youth ministry team hosts this event to showcase what God has done in order to inspire faith in the next cohort of youth leaders.
I think many people have a desire, or even feel called into youth ministry, but what discourages them are false limiting beliefs about themselves. It could be their age, their inexperience, their lack of self-discipline, their lack of resources, lack of charisma, etc. However, I’m encouraged looking in the Word of God and seeing many, despite limiting beliefs about themselves, whom God used for great things. Think of Jeremiah, who thought he was too young. Think of Moses, who was scared to death of speaking. God used them despite their evaluation of themselves to do amazing ministries and bless many. He can do the same with us.
This is my experience: when I turn my eyes from myself and instead focus on God, the possibilities change. Because I believe what He can do is far greater than what I can do. But don’t take my word for it! There will be youth shepherd testimonies to showcase what God has done, both in their own lives and their youth. I hope it will inspire faith in those praying and discerning if God is calling them to serve in youth ministry for the next three years.
Deciding to commit to youth ministry can definitely be a big decision. Which is why we need to have faith in the God who calls us. To have faith in God we need to be inspired. To be inspired we need to hear testimonies showcasing what God has done. To hear testimonies showcasing what God has done, we need to go to youth ministry information session (shameless plug).
So, don’t just come to get information. Come to hear what God has done and can do through you.
