370. No Other Option
The Seed is looking a lot more organized than before, thanks to team ministries. Now each team has more than 1 member, and teams have been growing in capacity to do more than they did before. Now we have started going on short-term missions again. Members are given more responsibilities, and it is my joy to see the team ministry grow and become more structured. I hear much feedback that serving in team ministries is enjoyable and promotes a sense of responsibility.
But as we see our ministries becoming more organized, we must also be careful not to become “too” organized to the point we become satisfied merely by being organized. When that happens, our priority becomes running the organization more efficiently, and we begin to rely more on policies and discussions. Even without prayer, with more repetitions, things can get more streamlined and the church experience can be enhanced on Sunday.
Unlike team ministry, trying simply to run house church ministry more efficiently does not result in a desirable outcome. It is because House church ministry is impossible without the “power” of God, which manifests through prayer and sacrifice. Everything we do in our church is so that we will bear fruit in house church, where disciples are made, and impossible prayers are answered. When we lose sight of this, we begin to settle for church activities that don’t require miracles and the supernatural power of God. We begin to come up with excuses and reasons why we don’t need miracles and power to live a satisfying Christian life. Prayer becomes a second thought, and we gravitate toward activities with predictable outcomes. In house church ministry, thankfully, we are forced into situations where there is no other option but to trust God and see him move.
The world needs to see the resurrected Christ and his power. Apostle Paul refused to speak the Gospel which does not demonstrate power. (1 Cor 2:4) House Church is the main body of evangelism and mission in our church. May we become so thirsty and hungry to see the power of God manifest and displayed in our house church gatherings that we expect people to be changed and prayers to be answered regularly, not settling for anything less.
