377. Limitations of Inner Healing
This is quoted from the post on Pastor Chai's facebook.
I served as a minister of education when I started my pastoral ministry. One of my roles was counselling, and I did it frequently. As a counsellor, I found many of my counselees’ problems stemmed from childhood emotional wounds. In these cases, inner healing was often very helpful. However, I found that inner healing is not a cure-all. When one hurt is healed, another deeper hurt is often revealed. Then another followed by another. This process can be likened to peeling the many layers of an onion. The Inner hurt will never be completely healed in this world. Complete healing will only be found in the afterlife, either through death or through Jesus' return and our resurrection. Once our inner wounds have healed sufficiently to allow for a relatively normal life, it’s wise to shift our focus from ourselves to others. When we serve and help those who are hurting and suffering, we often find unexpected healing for ourselves.
